Evelyn is so hard at work that she needed to stop for a drink break.
Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Teething Troubles
Evelyn has never been fond of teething. Every tooth has given us long nights with frequent waking and grumpy days. But, the canines have been by far the worst. She finally has two of them part-way in.
Two nights ago she was in so much pain that she woke up sobbing while Scott was still up working. He went up there to comfort her and she continued to cry and cry if he tried to leave her room. She patted the bed beside her and said, "daddy sleep". How do you turn that down? So Scott spent that night in her new big girl bed with her.
Last night only had one waking around 4:00 where she woke up with a shrill scream. She then climbed out of bed and got her door open before I could get to her. She frantically grabbed at my legs crying, "owie, owie". I picked her up and she laid her head on my shoulder and asked me to sing to her. I sang for a while then laid her back down where she fell back to sleep.
The next morning we saw why she was in so much pain. The tooth was through even more and her sheet and pillowcase were covered in blood spots. It was the saddest sight. It's happened a couple of times before with these teeth, but never this many or much.
Here's my poor little teether showing off one of her newest, hard-fought-for, teeth.

Big Girl Bed
Evelyn has officially been moved to her new room and new bed. She seems to love her bed and has made no attempts to escape despite the fact that she is quite good at climbing off of beds by herself.
It was a very emotional day for me on Friday. She took her nap in her crib, but would be going to bed for the night in her new room and bed. Before her nap I rocked with her in the rocking chair, read her stories, and sang with her. It's the same routine I've done with her basically since she was first born. I couldn't help but reminisce to when she was my little 7 lbs. newborn all swaddled up tight falling asleep on my chest as I read to her. I thought of the countless times I had done it. The hundreds of hours we had logged there in the middle of the night nursing her and helping her back to sleep. The nights I had looked in and found her and Scott fast asleep in that chair when she was too sick to sleep laying flat in her crib. It still makes me cry now thinking of how much she has grown up and how much joy she has brought us in the last 21 months.
So now the nursery sits waiting for another 5 or so weeks for another tiny baby to fill it, and my big girl is fast asleep in her bed. It helped to be the one to put her to bed tonight. I was able to climb in beside her to snuggle, read, sing, and pray. I really enjoyed the time and know that I will enjoy each new stage as she grows up, even as I mourn a little bit the stage we are leaving behind.
Last naptime in her crib.
Loving her brand new bed.

Father's Day
I couldn't ask for a better father for my girls than Scott. So it was fun to get to spend the day thanking him for all he does for us. Here's a bit of our day...
Evelyn and daddy before church.
Scott with all three of his girls.
In the afternoon it was 95 degrees with a heat index of 100-105, so what else would we do but head outside to the walk and chalk art festival! The artists all create art with chalk pastels in a sectioned off area at Crown Center. They did some beautiful work! I can't imagine putting that much time and effort into something you know will be washed away next time it rains. Here's a few of my favorites.
What really got Evelyn's attention though, were the fountains. As soon as she saw them we realized we made a mistake by not bringing her swimming suit with us. That didn't stop her though!
Of course that meant daddy got to get a bit wet too!

Fun at the Park
Every Wednesday morning we go to a local park with a bunch of other moms and kids from our church. I like this particular park because it has lots of shade! I don't do heat real well right now. Evelyn has a blast playing with all the other kids and comes home exhausted. She is really hard to get pictures of right now where she actually smiles for the camera, but I did manage to catch a couple cute looks today.
On Friday we are headed to the splash park, which I'm sure will be a big hit for my little fish. I'll be sure to snap some more photos there as well.
