Cough Remedy

I feel so bad for Evelyn when she has a bad cough, especially when it keeps her awake at night or wakes her up early from a nap. I've been reading about using essential oils medicinally, and found a wonderful cough remedy. It worked wonders for us through a bout of coughing she had about a month ago when fighting the flu and is working great again tonight. Evelyn developed a cough yesterday and coughed all the way through her nap this afternoon. So far tonight though, I haven't heard a single cough since setting up our new concoction!

Materials:
Tea tree oil
Lavender oil
Eucalyptus oil
glass bowl
boiling water

Directions:
Put 2 drops each of your three essential oils into a glass bowl. Place the bowl beside the child's bed or crib. If you have a child that gets up in the night, you can place the bowl under the bed so they won't knock it over. Pour boiling water into the bowl and quickly close the child's door to keep the aromatics trapped in the room.

You can do this up to three nights in a row. Then it's best to take a couple of nights off before starting again if the cough is persisting.

Sewing, Sewing, Sewing

I've always loved doing crafts and projects, so I don't know why I didn't get the sewing machine that has been sitting in my basement for almost two years out sooner. I've been having so much fun making tiny little things for our new little girl and slightly bigger things for Evelyn. Here's some pictures of my first projects.

Newborn sized diaper covers

Small diaper covers

Halter dress for Evelyn

Matching pillowcase dresses for Evelyn and the new baby (Kaylin, my niece, has one too that I left at my parent's house)

Happy Birthday Grandma Karen

It's Grandma Karen's birthday today, so I tried to get Evelyn to wish her a happy birthday.

She gets half a sideways wish. :)

It's A...

I can officially say that most of you are bad guessers. :) But that's ok, so am I! I was totally convinced otherwise, but much to our surprise...

Trick

If you ask Evelyn to do her trick, this is what you get. :)

Wonderscope

My sister got us a year-long membership to the children's museum, Wonderscope, for Christmas. Evelyn loves it! They have a room specifically for toddlers under 2 that is full of stairs and ramps. Perfect for a climber!

There is also a room called "The Market". It's set up like a grocery store with carts and a check out lane and everything. It also has a little garden area that Evelyn loved.

New Eating Adventures

Who says you can't eat oatmeal with a whisk?

Yogurt

Evelyn has always liked yogurt. Now that she has quite the independent streak in her, she has decided she has to feed herself now. This has led to A LOT of mess, but she still loves it!

Kleenex

Note to mom: Do not leave the Kleenex unattended with a curious toddler underfoot.

Future Babywearer

Evelyn has always liked riding around in my sling. Recently she brought be the sling and her bear and signed "help". I had to wrap it around her a couple of times to get it to fit, but she looked quite proud wearing her bear.

Gender Guesses

We are having the big ultrasound on Monday, March 8th. We will once again find out the gender of the baby-to-be. Get your guess in now (poll in the right-hand column) and I will post pics on Tuesday! :)
